Power Transmission & Distribution
High-voltage solutions for bulk power transmission and a stable grid.
Overview
HVDC links, STATCOMs and medium-voltage DC networks are built from hundreds of identical converter cells, so the semiconductor inside each cell decides the losses and the availability of the whole station. Dicio addresses this segment with 3.3 kV full-SiC and 4.5 kV IGBT + Si FRD modules in the industry-standard high-voltage housings — GridFRAME 2 for high-frequency MMC and solid-state transformer cells, IHV for the highest blocking voltage and current — and with 1.7 kV hybrid modules for cascaded H-bridge and MVDC stages. Low stray inductance, balanced current sharing and validated power-cycling capability support the multi-decade service life that utilities require.
Power conversion architecture
High-voltage conversion connecting power grids
High-voltage AC power is converted to HVDC or MVDC through converter transformers and MMC converters, then delivered over long-distance transmission or distribution grids.
HV AC Grid
High-voltage AC power grid that supplies bulk power from generation sources to the converter station.
