Performance Benchmarking

Measured 1:1 in a customer ESS PCS.

PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

Same rating, same footprint, same PCS. Only the module changed

The DICIO DHM1200GC170LX1 was installed in place of the Mitsubishi CMH1200DC-34S and compared by the customer in the same 480 kW ESS PCS power stage.

Both modules are 1700 V / 1200 A Hybrid SiC IGBT modules in the IHM 130 x 140 mm standard footprint.

This is measured data from the customer's production test facility, not simulation.

SYSTEM EFFICIENCY

DICIO led at all 66 operating points

Efficiency was measured in charge and discharge modes at 11 load steps from 20 to 400 kW for each DC-link voltage.

Even close to the optimum operating region for both modules, DICIO keeps higher efficiency across the whole load range.

As the DC-link voltage rises, switching loss takes a larger share and the benefit of low Eoff becomes visible.

Switching Loss vs Frequency

Switching Frequency (kHz)

In the 4-5 kHz range where the PCS actually operates, per-switch loss is about DICIO 312-391 W vs Mitsubishi 426-533 W.

DICIO312 ~ 391 W
Mitsubishi426 ~ 533 W

A lower VCE(sat) does not always mean higher system efficiency.

For ESS PCS centred on 4-5 kHz and partial load, DICIO prioritised lower Eoff and switching loss over VCE(sat) in the design.

THERMAL & RELIABILITY

Lower loss leads to lower temperature and long-term reliability
